The season of Advent begins several weeks from now (November 30th this year) and I want to give you a heads up. Things are a little different this year. Rather than writing the usual forty devotionals, I’ve written a book, Advent to Ashes, Volume 1, covering those forty plus many more days. As a result, there will be no more daily devotional emails. This book is the first of four volumes of devotionals which will cover each day for the entire year. Volume two, Ashes to Fire, (Ash Wednesday to Pentecost), is completed and in the process of publication.
Each volume works with the same devotional format: a passage of Scripture, a reflective commentary on the passage, a musical link via QR code, and a concluding prayer. Advent to Ashes contains 104 entries giving it the flexibility to adapt to the earliest Advent (Nov.27) and to the latest Ash Wednesday (March 10). There are indices listing the dates for Advent and Ash Wednesday from now until 2075 so you’ll always know when to begin! The Indices also include a listing of the music selections, musicians, subject listings, and a scripture index.
